Unlike some emergency shelters that offer services without conditions, Pan Am Place operates on a merit-based model. Young men must complete a thorough application process before they become residents. Once they’re accepted, they are required to commit to regular volunteer activity, work experience or educational training, and a fitness routine
Our approach helps us focus on young people who are dedicated to changing themselves and their situation. Those who complete our program benefit from improved self esteem and social skills, a healthier mind and body, and a sense of discipline that can be applied to tough situations for the rest of their lives.
FOCUSED ON THE NEEDS OF YOUNG MEN
There are few resources dedicated to the specific challenges of at-risk young men. Our facility offers a unique community-building experience, where young men share a residence and responsibilities with others their age. Residents are able to live, volunteer and train in a safe environment, with peers and mentors who understand the unique challenges that young men face.
